Original Prose and Poetry (OPP)
Original Prose and Poetry (OPP) is a type of prepared Speech in which the speaker makes his or her own work. The speech itself must be less than 10 minutes and is usually around the 7-9:30 minute range. You can write one speech every school year and you can’t have more than 150 words of any foreign content, even if properly cited or quoted. Any subject can be chosen, so don’t be afraid to show some creativity here! Speeches are graded on both content and execution. Speeches are usually memorized, although technically you can look at a script. No props will be used in OPP.
